5 September 2015. George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs is hosting a symposium to discuss how the new U.S. approach on Cuba can promote more educational and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The program, conducted with Sister Cities International and the U.S. Department of State, is held on Wednesday, 9 September, from 8:30 am to 12 noon, on the GWU campus.

The event expects to provide practical information and advice for organizations about U.S. policy and regulations  on Cuba, as well as advice from individuals and institutions with experience facilitating exchange and cultural programs with Cuba. The symposium’s two panels include presentations by U.S. government officials and private Americans from academic, people-to-people and cultural organizations. In addition to panel discussions, there are opportunities to network among participants interested in starting or expanding citizen exchange projects with Cuba.

The program is free, but advance registration is required. A detailed agenda (PDF) is also available. The event takes place on Wednesday, 9 September, 8:30 am to 12 noon at the Jack Morton Audiorium, 805 21st Street NW, Washington, D.C. (Metro: Foggy Bottom).
