25 July 2015. The next First Monday forum explores the Boko Haram threat to Nigeria and Africa. The program takes place on Monday, 10 August — actually, the second Monday in August — at American Foreign Service Association headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The panel has Leo Keyen, Director of the Hausa Service at Voice of America, and Margot Shorey, Counter Boko Haram Policy Analyst at Department of State. Keyen is now in northern Nigeria, and expected to return to the U.S. just before the discussion. Shorey began serving as policy analyst in June 2015 on detail to State Department from Africa Center for Strategic Studies.

First Monday forums are a joint project of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership and Policy, and Public Diplomacy Council. The event takes place on Monday, 10 August at 12 noon, at AFSA headquarters, 2101 E Street NW, Washington DC (Foggy Bottom metro). Sandwiches and refreshments will be served.

The event is free, but advance registrations by e-mail are required: FirstMondayForum [dot] RSVP [at] gmail [dot] com.
