Global Ties Meeting to Feature Skill Building, Policy Discussions

Mary Taylor

Mary Taylor, Lieutenant Governor of Ohio (ohio.gov)

14 November 2015. The Global Ties U.S. annual meeting, on 27-30 January 2016, will provide professional development and networking opportunities for people engaged in international exchanges. The event, where some 1,000 international exchange professionals are expected, will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The program, says Global Ties U.S., features workshops and interactive sessions to build skills and learn best practices in the management and operation of international exchanges. The meeting also includes discussions on policy issues affecting exchanges, including sessions with members of Congress. In addition, the event offers numerous opportunities to connect with colleagues from some 45 represented organizations.

Among the speakers is Mary Taylor, Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, who will describe the state’s Global Reach to Engage Academic Talent, or GREAT, program that aims to attract students from overseas to Ohio’s 200 public and private colleges. The initiative highlights the state’s supercomputer facilities, access to advanced Internet2 networks, and internship opportunities. Taylor is in her second term as Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor.

Registration for the meeting is available online. Discounted early-bird rates expire after Friday, 4 December.
